Members of the committees

Two Local Electoral Area Boundary Committees were appointed by Mr John Paul Phelan T.D., Minister of State for Local Government and Electoral Reform on 13 December 2017.

The Committees will review and make recommendations on local electoral area boundaries. They are required to report to the Minister not later than 13 June 2018 and the Committees' reports will be considered as the basis for a revision of the local electoral areas for use at the local elections to be held in 2019.

Committee No.1 will report on every county other than Cork, D�n Laoghaire-Rathdown, Fingal, Galway and South Dublin. It will also report on Limerick City and County and Waterford City and County.

Following Minister Phelan's announcements of 23 March and 3 May 2018, Committee No. 1 has also been tasked to review, make recommendations and report on Cork County and Galway County.


Committee No.2 will report on Dublin City and the Counties of D�n Laoghaire-Rathdown, Fingal and South Dublin.

The members of the Committees are:

Committee No. 1:

Geraldine Tallon, former Secretary General at the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government, who will act as Chairperson;

Dr Theresa Reidy, Department of Government, University College Cork;

Ned O'Connor, former Manager, South Tipperary County Council;

Virginia McLoone, former Senior Executive Officer, Donegal County Council;

Seamus Boland, Chief Executive Officer, Irish Rural Link.


Committee No. 2:

Tom O'Mahony, former Secretary General at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, who will act as Chairperson;

Peter Caulfield, former Director of Services, Fingal County Council;

Professor Tom Collins, Chair of the Governing Body, Dublin Institute of Technology:

Anne O'Keeffe, former Director, the Office for Local Authority Management;
